Rapid Prototyping
Sino Mold Rapid Prototyping
Rapid prototyping is essential in the development and manufacturing of new plastic products. It helps optimize the product design, fit it for injection molding production, and enable high-volume production. If a manufacturer neglects the prototyping process during plastic product innovation and development, even a small problem in the product design can lead to significant cost losses.
Sino-Mold can help you with rapid prototyping, such as CNC-machined plastic and metal prototypes, silicone-molded prototypes, 3D-printed (rapid prototyping) prototypes, and more.
Rapid prototyping processes are varied. Prototypes can be made by silicone molding, plaster molding, CNC machining, 3D printing (rapid prototyping), etc. Sino-Mold can choose the prototyping technology according to the product characteristics and quantity.
Sino-Mold Rapid Prototyping Types
Type 01: 3D Printing
3D printed molds are created using additive manufacturing techniques, such as Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM), Stereolithography (SLA), or PolyJet. These molds are typically made from plastic or composite materials and are used for producing small batches of parts or for testing mold designs before creating more durable metal molds
Type 02: Aluminum Molds
Aluminum molds are a faster and more cost-effective alternative to traditional steel molds. They can be CNC machined or fabricated using additive manufacturing techniques. Aluminum molds are suitable for short production runs and prototyping.
Type 03: Soft Tooling
Soft tooling involves creating molds from softer, less durable materials, such as silicone or urethane, which can be used for injection molding small quantities of parts. This method is often used for prototyping or low-volume production.
Type 04: DMLS for Mold Inserts
DMLS can be used to create metal mold inserts with complex geometries that would be difficult or impossible to achieve with traditional machining. These inserts can then be used in conjunction with more durable mold bases to create prototype parts.
Type 05: Bridge Tooling
Bridge tooling, also known as rapid tooling, involves creating molds from materials that are less durable than traditional tool steel but more durable than soft tooling options. Bridge tooling is used to bridge the gap between prototyping and full-scale production, allowing for the production of hundreds to thousands of parts.
Type 06: Bridge Tooling
Bridge tooling, also known as rapid tooling, involves creating molds from materials that are less durable than traditional tool steel but more durable than soft tooling options. Bridge tooling is used to bridge the gap between prototyping and full-scale production, allowing for the production of hundreds to thousands of parts.
Type 07: Injection Molding with MUD system
MUD systems use a standard mold base with interchangeable inserts, allowing for rapid changes in mold design. This system is particularly useful for prototyping and small production runs, as it reduces the time and cost associated with creating new molds.
